I think that the biggest change that Blake made was how he changed his way of controling his ADHD. I personaly feel like I can relate to this book because I also have ADHD just like Blake. I found that when reading this book my ADHD symptoms were almost exactly the same. Also I felt that after reading this book I will be able to contrl my ADHD better in the future.

  2. I think the biggest change that Blake made was to become social. He went from being a stubborn, scared, and bad-with-people person with ADHD to a popular member of his class and an active member of his community, doing greyhound rescue work. The change took a long time to accomplish, but it was a GREAT change.
Me and Blake don't have much in common. I'm scared to break rules. But we both like to build and experiment, and are often uncomfortable with other people. I also do not like loud noise, just like Blake, but that is because it can give me a migraine.
To my fellow classmates: what, in your opinion, is Blake's worst moment in the book?

I think that the biggest change that Blake went through was him going from out of control to following the rules and doing most of the things he is told to do. He had to work harder to overcome ADHD. The connection that I have with Blake is that I also like to do adventurous things. When he went sailing with his friend, he wanted to go into the bay. That is something adventurous. I also don't like to follow the rules sometimes. My question is, do other kids with ADHD have problems with tics, and if so, do they get it from other things other than being nervous?

  4. The one major change that Blake made in his own life was being able to learn from his blunders and learn to control his ADHD. The only thing I can relate to Blake is how I have ADD. It'd defenitally not as serious as Blake's case of ADHD, for instance I've never had tics or had gotten lost on a boat because of it. My question is whether or not Blake did infact have a more serious case of ADHD.

.I think the biggest change that blake made was him getting confident about having ADHD. In the early stages of his life he didnt seem to be confident in himself because of his condition.
.When Blake was younger he loved to play with dinosaurs, and when i was younger i did the same.
.Classmates: How do you all think Blake is doing in college?
. Noah B: I think Blakes worst moment was when he lit the yogurt on fire.

  6. I think that one of Blake's biggest change that he went through was when he had to become more organized. This was a big challenge for Blake when it was at it's worst. It once it was so bad that he got a bad grade on a test because he wasn't organized, and messed up on the simple parts.
Blake and I aren't really very much alike, but in one way we are alike would be that we both are afraid of spiders. When he went to the bay with his friend, tons of spiders started climbing into his sail boat, and he and his friend became frightened. I too am unnerved by spiders, just like Blake and his friend.
My question is: Do you all think that Blake's ADHD was a bad case?
Noah: I think that Blake's worst was when he got lost out in the bay.

  7. I think that one of Blake's biggest changes was going from out of control teenager to a pretty responsible young man. When Blake was younger he never followed the rules or thought about his actions, this caused him many problems. As he grew older he learned from his ADHD and he found ways that he could deal with it.

Blake and I don't have that much in common but one thing that i can relate to is being out of control. Sometimes when I get a "great" idea I don't think about it before I peruse it and that has caused some mistakes. Blake was the same way. One example, is when he accidentally lit the table on fire. He thought he had such a cool and great idea, but it turned out terribly and it could have been worse.

One question I have is, do you think Blake would be the same person he is now if he had never had ADHD?

Noah: I think Blake's worst moment in the book is when he set the table on fire. He could have killed himself, his sister, and his friend or even burnt down the house!

  8. A change Blake made in my opinion was how he can control ADHD. He was impulsive and he had trouble always trying to control his disorder, but he coped with it. He made this book to help others with ADHD. A common thing I have with Blake Taylor is that I too have ADHD. I have problems sometimes to control my hyperactiveness and my tics.

A question for my classmates is What do you think you would be like if you had ADHD?

  9. I think his worst moment was when he lit the yogurt on fire. It shows that ADHD can make the person ignore the consequences and be very impuslive. Will Pierson

  10. I think that Blake's biggest change was when he learned how to deal with the symptoms of his ADHD. I know how hard this can be because I also have ADHD, like Blake. I have also almost set a table on fire, but my mom put out the fire before anything else caught on fire.
I want to know if any of the things he used to help himself have helped any of you.
Noah:I think that his worst moment in the book was when he accidentally set the table on fire, though I almost did that at a chinese restaurant.

  11. i think the biggest change that blake went through is when he was small and people were making fun of him but when he was growing up people started to understand his ADHD.
Something i have in common with blake is that we both have troble paying attention. I think blakes worst part in the book is when he lost his "best Friend"
what would you do if you found out your son set yogurt on fire?

  12. I think the biggest change that Blake made was when he made true friends. With true friends, it was easier for Blake to be himself around others. One connection I can make with Blake is that both of us are outgoing.
Q: If you were Aki, Blake's friend, would you have abondoned him too, because he was not "normal"?
Rachel: I don't think that Blake would be the same person now if he did not have ADHD. By having ADHD, he learned how to accept "different" people. I f he was a normal boy, then he might have not learned this.

  13. I think that Blake e.s. Taylor changed people life by informing them of ADHD from his book. He taught people that ADHD doesn't have to effect your daily life. Blake also changed because he learned to cope with his disorder. I connect to the book because I sometimes want to do things that I am not aloud because I know I will suceed, like the boating incident.
answer: I think Blake would be a different person if he didn't have ADHD because he wouldn't have gone throught all that he went through.
Question: Do you think ADHD is real or not?

  14. The biggest change from blake was growing up and changing how he controled his ADHD. All he had when he was little was his meds, but as he got older he figured out ways he could control his ADHD to a point. My connection is that my brother has ADHD. He is good at controling it and sometimes you cant even tell he has it.

Question: If you knew someone who had ADHD would you still be good friends with him? Or would you change your mind abiout him because he had a disorder.
Response: Yes olivia ADHD is a real disorder. There is perscription medecine for it and plenty of books that can help people who have ADHD understand that everyone is going through what they have if they to have ADHD. many people are diagnosed with ADHD...

  15. I think the biggest change for Blake was that he learned how to better control his ADHD. He also learned how to learn from his mistakes. Some of my friends have ADHD and one of them almost set her room on fire. Do you think Blake handles his ADHD well? Why or why not?

Answer to Yasmina: I wouldn't have abandoned him because he has no control of it. I also don't think that it is fair to say that Blake is not "normal" and Aki is, who is he to determine who is 'normal'?

  16. I think the biggest change that blake made was becoming more social, he startedd making a lot of new friends and then he also became way more out going because at first he was socially awkward due to his adhd. One thing that i have in common with blake is that i may not have adhd but i still have a lot of troubling focusing.I think that adhd is definetly real because i mean if a proffesional doctor says its real then im not stuborn enough to disagree and also in the book blake talked about how adhd is really real.
What does it feel like when you have adhd and dont take your medication?

  17. Sabrina L: I think that Blake handled his ADHD well when he got older. When he was younger, he didn't know how to control it.

  18. I think that the biggest change in Blake's life was when he started socializing with people and when he developed techniques to help himself do better in school. A connection I make to the book would be that if there is too much noise in a room I can't focus on my work. Also, at home, I don't think about the outcomes of situations. My brother has ADHD so I know what it's like to live with that kind of thing. I guess when you don't take your medication for your ADHD, you can't concentrate and you get easily distracted. What helps a person with ADHD to study for tests?

  19. I think that this book had a lot of meaning behind it. But while I was reading I came to a conclusion that the biggest change Blake did was taking medicine and using all of his energy for good construtive things. For example staying up late and studying very hard for all of his classes. And also by learning better controls of his problem.ANd the connection that I made with this book is focusing on things that are very important. One question that I have is if Blake never would have taken the medicine do you think that he would be as successful as he did with the medicine.

I think the biggest change he made for himself was how he found different methods of dealing with his ADHD. I can relate to this book because I have had to overcome challenges in my life just like how he had to. Darell Parker what did you think the meaning behind this book was?

  21. I think that Blakes biggest change was when he decided to turn his life around. WHen he decided that ADHD wasn't going to ruin his life anymore it made him into the person he is today. This change affected everybody around him and anyone he wil meet. Without his change he wouldn't be very good at most things he is good at now. I also have ADHD and I share sone of blakes problems. I've had to make adjustments to myself also can now I continue to also do good in school. QUESTION: what would Blake be like today if he did have ADHD? BRYANNA: for people with ADHD it is easier if you hbe good notes already written and if you have the material laying out in front of you.

  22. I think that the biggest change Blake had to make was organization. He described himself as being very unorganized, and had struggled to keep his things in class organized. Blake mentioned that he often had two desks to occupy his belongings. I think that through himself being organized, he was able to not put much attention on himself, and his mess. A connection that I could make with Blake would be that I too cannot focus on work while others are talking in a classroom, or the class is very loud.
A question to others: do you think that Blake could have found an easier way to change himself overall? Besides his medication?

  23. Brian I think that the bigest change would be the lesons that he learned from his mistaces?I can relate because I have ADD and OCD And I bob my head for some odd reason that doctored can't find out why. And my dad had a dream about how to make my head bobing stop by using glases with the top half magnified. So when I bob everething gets blery. so I put my head up. I don't whear them because they bug me. But I don't have ADHD I have ADD atention defisit disorder.

  24. Answer to Darrell: on his exam for The Odyssey, I think that blake would have had a much better grade if he took his medication. Blake knew what he was doing, but I think that all those little distractions screwed him over during the test. So yes, I do think that Blake would be much more successful if he did take his medication.

  25. The biggest change for Blake was to accept the pros and cons of ADHD. When came to terms with himself, he overcame obstacles. He also has been trying to educate people about his condition. Blake and I have a few things in common. We are intersted in similar ideas, have a lot of energy, and we like to do things to see what happens next. I think his worst moment was when he was at the dance, yet rejeted every girl. What was he thinking? My question is: What do you think his life will be lke after writing the book?

  26. I think the biggest change Blake made to himself was learning to take his medicine and wanting to change. He learned from the test that his medicine was important. However the best thing he could do for himself was wanting to change. Without that, he wouldn't have wanted to do anything better for himself. Blake tried and succeeded in making ADHD work for him. This is in sharp contrast to how it was working against him when he lit the table on fire and got him and his friend lost in the boat.

I can relate to Blake even though I don't have ADHD or anything like it. We both have an interest in how things work. I also can have some problems with doing things just to see what would happen because of curiosity.

Rachel Fr 8: I think Blake would be different if he didn't have ADHD. He would probably still be smart, but he wouldn't have written this book, for starters. Blake also might have not worked as hard, so his grades may not have been as good.

My question: what do you think Blake would redo in his life, knowing all he knows now?

    ReplyDelete
  27. I think that Blake's biggest challenge was when he changed his ways and became a responsibly and organized person. Blake used be the most unorganized person, until it caused him to do bad in school and not finish his work on time. When he changed his bad organization skills, he was able to keep track of his homework better and also improved his studying. Blake and I aren't really alike, but one way we are is that we both don' t like trying new foods. Blake never wanted to do try anything new especially different foods, but after he did try different foods he ended up liking it and couldn't get enough of it. The same thing happened to me after trying new foods that I never wanted to try in the first place.
One question that I have my classmates is, What would happen if people with ADHD forgot to take their medications.
George: I think that Blake is doing good in college because he gave his readers good tips on organization and good studying skills that he uses everyday. Blake is also a smart teenager.

I think Blake's most important change was the change he made to himself. When he was younger he was shy, insecure, and didn't have many friends. He didn't like the way he was, but wasn't sure how to fix that. As Blake got older, he realized that only he could change himself, and he strove to change for the better. He made an effort to be more organized, and to step up and make new friends.
I can relate to Blake in that I also can act really hyperactive sometimes. Like him, when I'm acting that way, I don't think about what people might say. It's only afterward when I think, wow, I must have looked stupid.
My question to the class is: Would you have had the same feelings as Blake if you were living with ADHD?
Yasmina: I can understand that peer pressure made Aki feel that he had to break away from Blake, but if I were him, I still wouldn't do as he did. I have friends with ADHD, and they act completely normal- they don't make me uncomfortable. I would also never stop a friendship because of peer pressure.

I think that Blake's biggest change was he one he made for himself. At the beginning of his life he thought his ADHA was different in a bad way, and he dealt with it like it was bad. He didn't even want to improve when he was younger. But as he grew older, he started to relize that his ADHD made him who he was, and he couldn't escape it. When he relized this, he started to want to do better and he worked really hard to get through all the challenges he faced.

One connection that I can make with in the book is that When Blake was younger, he was less outgoing and it was hard for him to make friends because he didn't have such good self confidence. I can make a connection with this because I have the same problem.

My question is: If you were In Aki's situation, would you have turned down your best friend just because of what others thought about him?
