  1. I think that Walter made a huge change when he made the division to go to the military. I think that lead him to make the choice of getting his wriing published and making a good living.

*I think that the biggest change that Walter Dean Myers made was his decision to keep writing. He was raised around gangs and violence and he made the decision that the life of those people was not the life for him. There were many times when he almost stopped writing but he kept remembering what his teacher had told him- don't stop writing. I think that was a great choice because he is a very famous and very sucessful writer.
*I can relate to the book by there is something that I love to do but there have been many times when I have thought about quitting.

  3. I think the biggest change walter made was to stop going to highschool many times. He needs to realize that an education will get him everywhere. because he does realize this he keeps writing.
I can relate to this book because i have jumped off of things and hurt myself just like when he jumpeed of the church.

    Responding to Emery:
I think he stopped going to school because he wasn't doing well at anything except for english. He also liked going to the park and reading, and he also was with Frank for some of the time he was not in school.

My question is did Walter Dean Myers actually graduate from highschool?

  6. The biggest change in my opinion that Walter Dean Myers went through was when he was younger and his sixth grade teacher walked home with him to tell his mom what he did wrong. I think that out him into perspective that he has to do better in school. A connection that i can make from myself to the book is that i like to read only when their good books and so does Walter. I think that Walter stopped going to school because he didn't think that he had anything going for himself, he was depressed, and he didn't think he fit into the school.
My question is, Wouldn't you think that his parents would have realized that school was over and asked him why he was going or told him that school was over?

answering emerys question ... i think he stopped going to school because he thought it wasnt important because he wasn't improving much so he stopped going and started going to the park and read alot. because he knew writing and reading was his main passion. my question is how didnt walter and frank get hit by a train when running on the tracks?
