So B. It

You have now completed your first literature circle and read 1/3 of the book. What challenges have you read about so far? What challenges or conflicts do you predict will happen? How do you think the character/s will react to the challenge?

Answer these questions and pose a question you have. You may respond to your classmates' posts as well.

When you post, be sure to use your first name, the first letter of your last name, and your class period (ie. John D. 3).

One of the challenges was that Bernie cannot go outside. Heidi tries to help Bernie by making her go outside. In the end, Bernie passed out and it didn't help. I predict that Heidi is going to have problems in Liberty, NY. I think the characters will be able to deal with it. Bernie might be concerned for Heidi though.

My question: Do you think Heidi will get an answer from Thurmen Hill?

  2. One challenge that the characters have is that Heidi's mom is mentally challenged and she had trouble speaking and Heidi doesn't know Amy thing about her past. Another challenge that the characters have is Bernie have a problem with going out side. She has had the problem ever since her father has died. A challenge that I think will happen nis that Heidi will want to find out mire about her past she she will try to get some info from her mother and go from there. They will respond to this challenge by finding out more about her mom's past a follow that information.

My question is what do you think that pissant means?

  3. One challenge they have faced was when Bernie tried to contact Thurman Hill, but he has ignored her several times. Also, because Bernie has AP, she cannot travel to Liberty in order to get the answers she needs. In the next couple of chapters I believe Heidi is going to win some money, and run away to the handicapped home in NY. Bernie will freak out because Heidi is not equipped for the real world. What does pessint mean?

  4. Heidi's mom is mentally challenged. Bernie can't go outside so Heidi has to do all of the shopping and earn all of the money. Also Thurman Hill won't return any of Bernie's calls. I think that a challenge comming up is going to be that Heidi will go to find out about her past but she won't find anything. I that Heidi will react badly to not finding anything and get really mad.

Why do u think that Thurman Hill wouldn't return any of Bernie's calls?

  5. In the book So B. It, Heidi's mother can only say 23 words. The mother never has he words to describe how she is feeling. Whenever Heidi asks what is soof, the mother just says tea Heidi? She says that because she wants to please her daughter.

Will Heidi ever find out what soof means?

  6. challenes they have ran into are that dette cant go out side because of her disorder. the mom only has a certain vocabulary, she can only say 23 words. heide tried to help dette but that only led her to pass out. i think challenges they are going to in counter are heide running out of her luck streak. she will not be able to bring Any money to the house any more.

question- will dette ever go out side again.

  7. I think one of the main pro lems in this book so far is the word "soof." The problem with this word is that only one peson knows what it means. That person is Mama who doesnt have the words the explain what it means. I think the next big problem will come when Heidi ventirs off to Ney York. Do you thonk her luck will run out befor she gets there?

  8. One challenge that Heidi has faced was that she needed to go to Liberty, but didn't have enough money to go and she also wasn't old enough to go by herself. But, she gets enough money and tricks everybody into thinking she is old enough. I think that someone will notice that Heidi isn't old enough to ride alone and kick her off. I think that she will find someone that will help her. My question is do you think she will find Thurman Hill?

  10. so far, we have learned that heidi is afraid of buses, when heidi was going to reno. i think that this will tell us some about her mom's past. i think that later on, bernadette will experince something bad that will happen to her. i think that this will make heidi even more independent, and she'll have to help her family more.

So far we have learned that hiedi doesnt know much about her mother and her past. Her mother so B. it is mentally challenged and Bernadette has to help her around the hosue. Bernadette is a very nice lady that helps take care of hiedi and so B it. Hiedi is a very curious girl and wants to know alot more than she does right now. She will soon find out more about her mom though and i think the book will get more interesting.

I'm pretty far into the book so I won't say much. I think that they will encounter a very big problem later on in the book. Heidi is always worrying about the word "soof." Maybe she'll try to do something that she souldn't hhave done to find out what soof really means.

  13. A couple of challenges in the book so far are that Bernie cannot go outside and that Heidi's mom cannot communicate well with other people. A challenge that I think might arise later in the book would be Heidi getting to Liberty and talking to Truman and making it back all by herself. I think that this would be a major challenge because Heidi isn't familiar with the out side world. I think that the characters will react by being scared and nervous but will eventually make it though the challenge.

    My question is...
Do you think that Heidi will find what she is looking for or will it just be another dead end?

  14. so far in my book there has been alot of challenges, one of the most recent challenges was when bernie was trying to get over the fear of outsude and when she steped out of her apartment she has a nervice brakedown.
i think some other challenges that might happen are maybe heidi gettinv lost or her not findinv ouf what she wants to know. i thibk that theu will get through what ever happens to them because they all seem like really strong people. a question i have is what might happen if heidi dose not find outr what she wants to know?

  15. some chalenges heidi has faced are mama's brain, bernie trying to go outside, her fight with Bernie, Alice finding out she was lying, and her trouble contacting home at the bus station. I think some conflicts she will face in the future are not being able to find Thurman Hill, if she does find him not being able to get information about her past from him, having trouble traveling, getting caught travelng under age, and mama worrying about her. I think she will just keep trying to contact him and get the information, and if she gets caught or finds any other difficulty with the bus, she will find another way to travel. I dont know what she will do about mama, but Bernie will probably have to comfort her.

  16. Some conflicts that I have read about In So Be It is that Bernadette can not go outside cause she has a disease called Agoraphobia which she can not walk out the house so she has to stay inside. Another probelm is that Heidi's mom (So Be It) is Mentally retarded and Heid doesn't know who her father is. Problems that I think they will have to face is that she might have a challenge finding out what soof means.

  17. Heidi is faced with 3 challenges; 1: Her mom is mentally challenged. 2: Her guardian, Bernadette, is afraid to venture outside of the apartment. 3: Heidi does not know anything about her past. But she overcomes these obstacles through determination and curiosity. My question is: Will Mr. Hillhave the meaning of the word soof?

  18. So far in So B. It, you learn the Heidi lives with her mentally retarded mother and her neighbor Bernadette. This is already a conflict to Heidi. With her mother not able to support herself and with Bernadette not being able to leave her house, it can cause problems. For example, there isn't much money for the three of them. Heidi also has little experience from the outside world, given that she doesn't leave the house that much, and she doesn't go to a public school. In Heidi's future, I think that she will be too curious and want to find out more about her and her mother's past. I fear that she will travel a long way but will end up with little or no information. Because of this, Heidi will dig deeper into this information and figure out some of her past.

    My question is...
Do you think Heidi will ever discover the meaning of 'soof'? Does it have anything to do with her father?

  19. Awi, Ling: 7 period

One of the challange was that Mrs. Bernadette didn't want Heidi to go to Librety by her self because Heidi was too young. I think Heidi might have some problems with finding Mr. Hill, and asking questions when she arrives at Librety.
I am sure Heidi will overcome all those obstacles that she is going to have because all she really wanted was to know who she really is.

    My questions:
    1) Do you think Heidi is going to find out everything about her past?
    2) If she dose, what do you think will happend after that?

    ReplyDelete
  20. So B. It definitely has a lot of conflict. First, Heidi's mother says "soof," but can't say what it is or the meaning of the word. Heidi seaches for clues but is still unsuccessful. Another conflict is the Hilltop hotel and how Mr. Hill won't give Heidi or Berdanette any information. Heidi solves this by going herself to liberty, NY. I predict that more conflict will arise between Mr. Hill or the hotel itself once Heidi arrives and it won't be very easy to get the information she is looking for.

  21. P.S.- A question I have is, why did Heidi see the red sweater and assume that her grandmother had been in the apartment? Did it not occur to her that maybe her grandmother had given it to her mother a while ago?
