  1. i think i relate to nathan's father the most. he likes to fish, and sometimes can be strict. nathans father's name is george. and thats my cats name! I'm not strict, but sometimes i can be in a bad mood
I learned a couple morals from this novel. I learned about determination, and how if you work toward something, u can almost always get somewhere in life. i also learned that living by the beach can be fun.

  3. In my previous post, Nathan's challenge was becoming a surfman against his fathers will. He faced the problem by going out to sea and helping the rescues when the surfmen needed him. However, Nathan realized that he couldn't risk his life everyday saving drowning sailors. He then sadly quit his dream, and helped his dad fish. The next day, though, Fannie told everyone that he was going to become a doctor. Because the rumors were spreading so quickly, he had no choice but to go to a medical school in Raleigh. I could relate to Nathan the most because my step-grandpa is dead. I learned that most dreams don't go the way you planned, but they often turn out okay.

  4. In the previous post I talked abor how nathan wanted to be a surfman but
his father wanted nathan to be a fisherman like him. Nathan overcame this by going out with the surfmen and helping with he rescues. Alhough Nathan believed that al he wanted was to be a surfman he realize that he couldn't risk his life all the time and decided to go to medical school. I related to nathans grandfater the most. His grandapa always said to go after your dreams and you can do anything if you try your hardest. I agree completly with that and always try to do that. I learned many things from this book but the main thing would be, like I said before, try your hardest and you can do anything.

  5. I think that i can relate to nathan because when i want to do something that could be a carrer for the rest of my life then i wont listen to someone who says i cant do that. I stick to it and the can try to force me not to but if i like ill do it anyway. The challenge that was faced in my novel was that nathan didnt become a surfman but he became somethinghe was doing with the surfman, and that was becoming a doctor. I learned alot in this novel. one of the main things was that if you put your mind then will succed. Also it taught me about determination and never giving up.
