Storm Warriors

You have now completed your first literature circle and read 1/3 of the book. What challenges have you read about so far? What challenges or conflicts do you predict will happen? How do you think the character/s will react to the challenge?

Answer these questions and pose a question you have. You may respond to your classmates' posts as well.

When you post, be sure to use your first name, the first letter of your last name, and your class period (ie. John D. 3).

  1. So far in Strom Warriors there have been many challenges. The main challenge that Nathan has faced is that he wants to be a surfman and his dad strongly disagrees. His dad wants him to be a fisherman just like him, but Nathan never gives up hope to be a surfman. Another challenge is that Nathan and his old friends got in a fight and he ending up getting punched in the face. I predict that Nathan is going to get in more fights with his dad about being a surfman and they may end up growing apart.

My question is, is Nthan ever going to become a storm warrior or is he going to end up being a fisherman like his dad?

  2. So far, Nathan has faced a few problems in the book. He had helped the surfmen, helped his dad with fishing, and helped with an injured man. I think that there will be more shipwrecks and thatNathan will help out the surfmen with rescues.

What is it that makes Nathan want to be a surfman?

  3. ... i think nathan wants to show his father and grandfather wrong. his family wants him to be a fisherman, but nathan wants more than that. i believe that nathan can succeed, but i think that he is not aware of how hard it is. my question is :
do u like this book so far? what do you not like about it?

  4. A challenge that I read about was that the father didn't want Nathan to become a surfman. Nathan also found it hard to become a quality surfman because people didn't think that blacks were equal. I think that Nathan will also have problems making it as a surfman, with all of that competition between him, Floyd, and William. I think that Nathan will make it as a surfman, but he will face many problems. I think that Nathan will react to these challenges by toughening upand worrying about only himself.

  5. In my book storm warriors, nathan faces many challenges in the book. one of the challenges in the book is that nathan and his family have to move away from his home to get away from the ku klux klan. another challenge is, one of nathans dreams is to be a surfman, but his dad and grandfather dont want him to be a surfman. He wants nathan to be a fisher man just like him. a conflict in storm warriors is that nathans used to be friends got in a fight with him and nathan ended up getting punched in the face.

my question is: will nathans dad and or grandfather let him be a surfman or will he end up being a fisherman like his dad?
